Introducing…

by xangelo on March 1st, 2009

Alright, so I thought I would kick things off with a bit of an introduction as to who I am and why I’ve started this blog. I suppose if you are a first time reader then this would be a good place to start to understand about me, and if not, it serves as an excellent jumping-into point.

So basically things were going pretty good for me. I spent a lot of my time chilling out with some friends, relaxing, I even used to play a lot of basketball outside my high-school with some friends. Actually, that’s pretty much all I did. Until the ball hit a couple guys, who were up to no good. Real trouble makers.. they showed up in town a few months ago. Moved into my neighbourhood. Basically, to cut the story short, there was a bit of a fight. No one was seriously hurt, but when my mom found out she got scared. A few days later she told me that she had arranged for me to move out of west philly and up to Belair to live with my aunt and uncle. We didn’t have too much cash with us, so we ended up convincing a cabbie to take me there for a flat rate. Took most of the day to get there, and I ended up arriving around 7 or 8 am. I spent the ride thinking about a lot of things, but in the ended, I settled on one. I would become the Prince of Belair.

I Lived here

Ok, so I’m not Will Smith and I never lived in West Philly. Infact, I live in Canada. Lived here for most of my life. Wasn’t born here though. I actually moved here from Dubai when I was about 7 or 8 years old. It was early enough (or traumatic enough, not sure which) that I don’t really remember much about it.

Fast forward about 7 years and I’m in highschool. Made quite a few friends there, a few of which I still keep in close contact with. Made some friends on what was essentially my first day of highschool whom I stay in contact with to this date. We’re all fairly close although we’ve all gone through our share of up’s and downs.

Currently I’m in my second year at the Sheridan Institute of Technology for Network Engineering and Software Development. I’m an avid computer geek, having acquired my status over the past few years (almost 10 now). I love programming and web design, so naturally, I run a small almost defunct web design company on the side. We don’t do too much, and most of what we do is assessed on a customer-to-customer basis so the prices tend to be fairly cheap when compared to others. Other than that, my free computer time finds me browsing the net (StumbleUpon is an amazing invention, google should buy that and couple it with their already awesome indexing powers [stick their index in it /giggle ]) and reading up on various tech blogs.

my_guitarAside from the computer I play a lot of guitar. I’ve been playing for almost 6 years now and am starting to actually get kind of decent at it. Maybe if I feel like it, and I actually get a good microphone, I’ll record some stuff one day. Most of the music that I play is actually metal.. pretty hard-core metal. I listen to a lot of bands ranging from Metallica (on the softside) to Emperor and Arch Enemy. More recently I’ve been getting into a really under-rated band called Protest the Hero. These guys are Canadian, and they’re incredible. Some of the most technical guitarwork that I’ve seen, and I don’t believe that the guitarists have been playing too long. My own musical writing style seems to be fairly fluid, allowing me to shift from black metal, with it’s speedy trem picking screeches to full on melodic death metal.

So with all that free time I have after those, I spend my time reading and now, blogging. I’m hoping to keep up to at least 1 a day and most likely two on the weekends :O If there’s anything that I left unanswered, or any questions that you have feel free to leave them in the comments. I’ll make sure to check back frequently.

Stick their index in it? *shakes head* Oh, Angelo.

I like it. I think this is a great introduction. You’re way cooler than Will Smith as far as life stories go. Lol. When your post got to the part about basketball I mentally backtracked for a minute and which of us was totally off our rocker and wondered when did that ever happen..?
